Religion isn’t usually a subject I talk about, but today I feel like chatting it up. Now, before we get this thang started I want everyone to know that this is from MY point of view and MY point of view only. I was raised this way and I am speaking from that angle. If your an atheist or Wiccan obviously you’re going to have a different point of view, I will respect your opinion so please respect mine.
Growing up I was taught that there was only one true religion, that was Church of Christ. Of course with that belief, it was backed up with bible verses. It was engrained in my psyche that this was the only way. To add to that belief of the only true religion, I was also taught that if you were not a member, meaning a Christian/baptized you would go to hell. I know you’re thinking, okay, if you’re taught it’s the one and only true religion and if you’re not a member you’re going to hell, how do you go to heaven? In order for you to “make it to the promise land” you must first become a member, a Christian. To do that you must be baptized. Every religion has a different take on baptism. In the Church of Christ (COC), you will first be asked if you understand what you’re doing and the preacher will submerge your entire body under water then bring back up you emerging you a “new” person. (Not New physically, but spiritually)
Now that I’m an adult, I don’t attend church as I should, but I do pray and I do occasionally read my bible. I know I should strive to do it more, but I am human and he does understand, but it’s no excuse. I believe that a Christian is a Christian. Whether you’re a Methodist, Baptist or a member of the COC. We are all striving for the same goal, trying to live our lives right and ultimately ascend to heaven on the day of Judgement. Yes, I do believe there is going to be a Judgement day. When? I don’t know. No one knows. According to the bible, “he’s going to come back like a thief in the night.”
A lot of people think that you have to go a building to go to church. You can pray anywhere. You can sing a song anywhere. All The Lord wants from you is to give him thanks. Take ONE day out of 7 and give to him. It’s easier said than done. I’m guilty myself, but I’m going to do my best to get on the right track. It won’t be an over night success, but it will be a success. All he wants to see is an attempt. If you are doing all you can to give him one day, he is going to shower you with blessings. I didn’t mean to get all preachy, but someone out there needed this. Maybe it was YOU.
